From the moment you pick up this seemingly innocent game box, you will know that this is not your average board game or your average game experience. The weight of the box is a testament to the impeccable quality of everything inside. The playing board is made of very sturdy cardboard with vibrant colors. It folds perfectly back into a square so it can be returned to the box without issue. The included dry erase board paddles are of outstanding quality, are very easy to erase, and don’t stain. They can be reused time and time again. The characters are made of thick plastic with a picture of the character embedded in it. The game also includes refillable dry erase markers. Tester after tester was blown away by the quality. But this is a game after all, so let’s move to that. Calculat3d Chaos is a complex game, do not expect to “get it” right out of the box. The instructions are complex, and several testers told us that they needed to search the web for more straightforward instructions. Got that out of the way, so how fun is the game? In a word, it’s a blast. Fast-paced, and you can even change the rules a little to speed it up. Kids 9 and up couldn’t get enough of it; as soon as a game ended, they wanted to play again. Note: we don’t recommend teaching it to kids much younger than that as it could be frustrating. The game involves criminals and lots of deductive reasoning. Now the price…$70??!! There's no denying this is high; there’s no getting around that, but if price is no object and you are looking for a new, engaging game for this holiday season, check this one out.
